Clinical Consultation
WITH JESSICA THOMPSON, MS, RD, LD, CEDS-C
As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Consultant, I combine my knowledge and passion for this work with my love for teaching to guide other dietitians in gaining the knowledge and expertise needed to effectively treat eating disorders.

This work is challenging, nuanced, and ever evolving. Therefore, having one-on-one, individual guidance and support from a seasoned provider as you begin treating clients with eating disorders is ESSENTIAL.
Clinical consultation is a standard in the field for providers newer to the field as well as for those of us with years of experience seeking continued growth.
I am thrilled to now offer clinical consultation to dietitians newer to the field and more experienced dietitians aiming to grow their skills, knowledge, expertise in treating eating disorders, including those pursuing iaedp™ CEDS certification.
Consultation meetings are scheduled at a frequency that meets your needs, usually no less than once per month, and will take place in-person at my office or virtually via a HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform.

Why I Offer and Value Consultation
This work is HARD both clinically and emotionally. Sometimes what we need the most as clinicians is a cheerleader and a space to process and reflect on cases, administrative challenges, gaps in our knowledge, and how we are showing up with our clients.

So much of my knowledge and confidence in treating eating disorders has been amassed overtime through years of clinical experience, collaboration with other providers, ongoing learning, supervision, and mentorship.
I am excited to fulfill my passion for teaching and to support other clinicians in becoming proficient in navigating the complexities of this work.
My hope is not only to support you in your clinical work but also in advancing in your career, wherever that road takes you.
I love supporting other eating disorder clinicians in building on their strengths and recognizing and addressing areas for improvement with compassion, curiosity, and encouragement.
I am an iaedp™-approved consultant, so consultation hours count toward your CEDS certification requirements if this is something you are currently or are interested in pursuing!

Conditions I Treat
I specialize in supporting individuals with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, and those who are trying to step out of disordered eating and dieting and into intuitive eating and embodiment.
I have a special interest in working with teens, young adult males & females, women in their perinatal years, those struggling with ADHD as it relates to meeting their basic needs (including fueling), those in the LQBTQIA+ community, and families navigating challenges in feeding their children without encouraging disordered thinking or behaviors.
My work with clients is trauma-informed, and I am comfortable working on high acuity and SEED cases. I am a HAES-aligned clinician and believe firmly that health is not tied to a weight or size.

I am well versed in and weave several therapeutic modalities into my work with clients, including CBT, DBT, IFS, and motivational interviewing. I also believe that the trusting relationships we build with our clients in and of themselves act as extremely powerful ingredients in their recoveries.
A multidisciplinary approach to treatment offers our clients the best chance at recovering. Therefore, I communicate and collaborate regularly with other providers who are also treating my clients. I value and encourage this collaborative treatment approach among those to whom I offer consultation.
I thoroughly enjoy teaching newer clinicians how to confidently know when and how to integrate these modalities and other nuanced treatment approaches within sessions with clients (and their families) to support their own clients’ success.
